The mansion resounded with a Christmas concert

On Saturday, December 9, 2023, the Motešicky manor in Ladce resounded with a Christmas concert. We restored the premises of the manor with the vision of organizing such cultural events, which by their nature fit into the restored monument. At the end of November, we had a visit from the Norwegian group Sunnmøre Baarelag, but this time we gave space to pleasant pre-Christmas jazz in the newly renovated interiors. Excellent musicians Gabriel Jonáš (piano), Peter Štrauch (double bass), Juraj Kalász (saxophone) and singer Andrea Panáková provided an extraordinary experience for more than 40 participants. At the same time, we considered the concert to be a way of thanking all the supporters of the manor house, the list of whom would probably not even fit on the entire page of Ladce newspaper. We are proud that the mansion is gradually finding its audience and that we can welcome an increasing number of visitors. We will continue to organize cultural and social events and we will continuously inform the readers of Ladce newspaper about what we are planning and what we have managed to achieve. The mansion is open to all people of good will. On behalf of the manor in Ladce, allow us to wish you a wonderful Christmas and a happy and successful year 2024.

Final conference of the project MaHoLa

On Friday, November 24, 2023, the final conference of the MaHoLa project was held in the mansion. We thank everyone present for taking the time to see the results of the project aimed at restoring the western part of the mansion, especially Mr. Jaroslav Mojžišov from the Ministry of Investments, Regional Development and Informatization of the Slovak Republic, Mrs. Hana Tásler Goldschmidt from the Embassy of the Kingdom of Norway in Vienna, as well as our project partners: the Municipality of Ladce, the Vocational Boarding School in Ladce and the University for Green Development (Hogskolen for grontvikling). It was an honor for us to work together on the project and we look forward to the continuation of further cooperation.

The oldest postcard of the castle in Ladce

The MaHoLa (Manor House Ladce) team, which is cooperating on the restoration of the Ladce Manor House, has recently managed to pull off a stunt that we would like to share with the readers of Ladce Zvesty. We managed to obtain the oldest postcard depicting the manor house from a foreign auction. The central motif of the postcard is a drawing of the front side of the manor, i.e. the view from the north-west side. The manor house is depicted in the drawing after its reconstruction by Adolf Schenk at the end of the 19th century, which is evidenced by both the main representative entrance to the building and the existence of the corner turrets, finishing the west wing of the manor house. The postcard, dated 6 July 1900, was sent from Ladice to Karl Fichtenthal (?) in Vienna on 9 July 1900. It is worth mentioning that it found its addressee the very next day, on 10 July 1900. The person of the sender, whose name and relationship to the addressee we cannot yet identify with certainty, remains a question. In 1900, Adolf Schenk was already dead, and his widow Jeanette (since remarried and divorced) was living in the manor with their adult son Robert. We will further investigate the fate and relationship of the sender and addressee. The postcard will soon be displayed where it rightfully belongs - in an exhibition dedicated to the history of the manor.
